Opening of the borders on June 21
Many people who had in March 2020, a real estate project on the Costa Brava in Spain and who had to suspend their plans because of the Coronavirus and the confinement that followed.
The de-containment of Catalonia is now in its third and final phase, and we can already see projects gradually resuming... perhaps in a different context.
Indeed, after more than two months of strict confinement, the watchword here is BREATHE !
The north of the Costa Brava spared by the coronavirus
Spain and France went through the same ordeal at virtually the same time: the same figures, the same diversity of affected and spared regions, the same strict containment measures and virtually the same de-containment schedule.
And on closer inspection, Catalonia's experience of the pandemic has been very mixed: there have been 3 main outbreaks: Barcelona, Igualada and La Poble de Segur.
The map posted by Catalonia's Department of Health clearly illustrates this contrast, with the untouched situation in the north of the Costa Bravabetween the French border and l'Escala, with a local average of 11 to 30 confirmed cases per 10,000 inhabitants.
It has to be said that barrier measures have been carefully applied, and progressive de-containment followed to the letter.
A de-confinement placed under the sign of Breathing
A humorous pied-de-nez certainly, but above all a state of mind of the Costa Brava that the town hall of Empuriabrava has placed at the heart of the reopening of the country to intra-European tourism on June 21: RESPIRE with us! Breathe in the sports, the beach in the sun, breathe in the family life, the adventure and the action, the gastronomy and all the joys of life that can be found in this little corner of paradise, just 35 km from the French border, ranked among the 30 most beautiful bays in the world, the largest marina in Europe and so much to see.

Of course, the barriers and all sanitary measures have been taken to ensure that holidaymakers and residents remain protected.
The minimum physical distance of 1m50 is already in place, on the beach as well as in bars and restaurants. And the spirit of vacation and fresh air is there!
Optimism for the real estate post covid-19 on the Costa Brava
It is often the emotion and experience of a summer stay on the Costa Brava that launches or re-launches projects to buy a villa or apartment. Now that the opening is fixed, the danger is over and the rules have been clarified to welcome customers, what is the real estate market like?
Real estate on the Costa Brava is mainly driven by intra-European tourism and the search for a pleasant, affordable place to live for holidaymakers and retirees from France, Germany, the UK, Belgium, etc. Neither the growing appeal of this region, nor the increasing number of retirees and holidaymakers who are discovering it or have fallen in love with it, will change in the short or long term.
So there's no need to worry: Roses, Empuriabrava, l'Escala, Palau, Llançà, Port de la Selva... all these dreamy names remain a safe investment area for real estate, just waiting for the opening of the borders to get the ball rolling again.
At N1 France Espagne Immobilier, the first signals are positive
A real rebound: after 2 months without any transaction, the appointments and requests for visits are jostling each other.

And there's a lively supply of new properties for sale, from budget apartments to Costa Brava villas.
