Built in 1967, the Marina d'Empuriabrava stretches over 23 km of navigable canals, making it one of the largest residential marinas in the world! With almost 5,000 moorings, including 700 for 26-meter boats, this huge marina is officially the largest in Europe. Located 40 kilometers from the French-Spanish border, it is an integral part of the municipality of Castelo d'Empuries.
The charm of Empuriabrava
Bordered by the Mediterranean Sea, Empuriabrava offers a typically Mediterranean climate all year round. Popular with holidaymakers during the summer months, the town's many tourist and cultural activities are sure to keep you coming back for more. The Marina was built on a marshy area that is home to the Aiguamolls d'Emporda nature park.
Empuriabrava also stands out for its luxury and modernity. As an added bonus, thanks to low Spanish property prices, it's possible tobuy a house or apartment in Empuriabrava for your vacation at rock-bottom prices.
What to do in Empuriabrava
What would a marina be without water sports? The little Venice of the Costa Brava offers boat rentals and sporting activities (surfing, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing...). If you'd rather take to the skies, try parasailing or paragliding, which offer breathtaking views over the marina. If you're looking for a charming place to take your children, we recommend the Empuriabrava Butterfly Park! Another idea for a family outing: Carmansó Minigolf. A great way for young and old alike to have fun. And if you're looking to relax, you'll love the magnificent beaches along the coast. A particular favourite is the pretty Platja d'Empuriabrava, where children (and parents) can play on inflatables all day long in crystal-clear waters!
With family, friends or lovers, you can also visit Catalonia's biggest markets. When it comes to gastronomy, fans of Spanish cuisine will be delighted to discover some of Catalonia's finest restaurants. And if you're a party-goer, there are plenty of trendy bars to choose from!
