Rosas in the Club of the most beautiful bays in the world since 2011
The World's Most Beautiful Bays Club is an international association created in 1997. It brings together organizations representing a community with a seafront on an exceptional bay of the world's coastline. To join the Club, bays must meet a number of criteria, such as interesting flora and fauna, an environmental protection program, or be emblematic for the local population. Since 2011, Rosas Bay has been a member of this very select Club. In fact, it meets all the criteria required by the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club.
Today, the Bay of Roses shares this prestigious award with some thirty other bays around the world. These include Mont Saint-Michel Bay in Normandy, Quiberon Bay in Brittany, Cartagena Bay in Colombia, Praia do Rosa Bay in Brazil, Bodrum Bay in Turkey, Agadir Bay in Morocco and Siné Saloum Bay in Senegal.
Rosas, a city between plain and sea
Located in Mediterranean Catalonia, the Bay of Rosas lies between Cap de Creus and the Montgrí Massif. It is one of the region's only natural accesses to the sea. The bay offers over 45 km of beaches, 15 km of coves and 50 km of navigable canals. It is bordered to the north by the Cap de Creus Natural Park, to the south by the Montgrí Natural Park and to the center by the Aigüamolls de l'Empordà Natural Park. Its many coves offer crystal-clear waters (between 15 and 20°C) and a multitude of water sports activities.
